August 15th

This morning we have company for breakfast, and after breaking up camp we stop by the local Spar supermarket to stock up on supplies as we will have to be totally self sufficient for the next 5 days. There is one small set back, there is no diesel available in Kasane and no one can tell us when there will be any. I have done 200km since the last fill up, so there may be a problem as we might not be able to do all Iintended to around the Moremi Game Reserve. We have no choice but to go on. Getting to Maun will not be a problem; we will have to manage.

Off to Savuti, the road is reasonably good up to Kachikau (the government is building a tar road not yet usable), were we stop for lunch.

The road then gets more sandy, but we are getting on quite well.

We find a good spot to park the vehicle for the night just, short of the Ghoha Gate as we do not have a campsite booked into the park. We will be camping on the side of the road tonight. After setting up camp we have time to sit around the fire before it gets dark. There are lots of small mopani flies and they are quite annoying at first but you get used to them (maybe!!). The funny thing is that they disappear as soon as the sun sets...
